SYDNEY PRESENTATION: - People Impacts of the Current Economic Downturn

Dean Courtenay and Russell Fakira gave a follow up presentation to invited guests at The Bureaux's Sydney Centre on 2 July.  It was also an opportunity to network, build on relationships and discuss current (HR and other) issue within businesses. 

Attendees very keen to understand the metrics and data provided by the speakers and share experiences.  It is our intent to provide clients, candidates, colleagues and Bureaux Members with regular sessions on current issues at future events.

The core of the presentation was that organisations are facing three challenges:

  • Challenge 1 - Despite the downturn, we still face a talent shortage
  • Challenge 2 - Employee performance has been declining (more are dis-engaged, turnover is increasing for best people and leader effort has dropped)
  • Challenge 3 - Effective management of restructuring with outplacement is very important
